He Pī Ka Rere – Learning To Fly
‘He Pī Ka Rere’ is an evidence based Kaupapa Māori movement programme that draws on Mātauranga Māori and other indigenous knowledge to inform the role of traditional activity in the growth and development of a child. A traditional Māori belief is that with in every child there is the capacity for growth and development when the appropriate stimuli are provided. A constant theme throughout ‘He Pī Ka Rere’ is providing stimuli that allow tamariki to learn new skills and to develop their natural talents.
He Pi Ka Rere is currently being released into our Kaupapa Maori Early Learning Environments with wananga being held for Kaimahi that deliver to Kaupapa Maori early learning environments around Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) and various other regions. The 2 day wananga will involve learning through the use of presentations, practical sessions and technological training.
This project continued to grow and develop throughout the design process and spanned a whole year with a number of other smaller projects being added to complete this early childhood learning resource.
